Wehrwolfsschantre marks the high point of the album, showing that Wolfnacht are capable of writing songs of the calibre that they cover. I had mentioned a comparison to Absurd earlier, and it's no surprise that he also takes on one of theirs, "Eternal Winter" from their old videotape of the same name. I find that alot of Athalwolf's The sole member of Wolfnacht material is quite weak, as is his performance in parts. Then there are the three covers. The other originals are "Aufstand", with a muted hate rock riffing sequence accelerating into a punk explosion, clean vocals affixed to the primitive snarling, and "Wehrwolfsschantre", another traditional black metal tune which happens to be the most absorbing on the release, from its opening surge to the mixed rasps, Gothic drawl and synthesizers in the verse. However, I find the ridiculous title track hard to forgive, and the outro think of the intro to Fast As A Shark by Accept taken seriously leaves you wondering if the band are truly out to take the piss. Overall it's not bad, but I did feel that his pure black metal writing was superior to the more rock-fueled venom.

The title wo,fnacht, and "Aufstand" are both quite plodding, mid paced and boring. After that debacle, though, the rest of the album turns out to be fairly well written.

Greece has been associated with a number of nationalist black metal outfits, but of these, Wolfnacht was perhaps the first to exercise its ideology in such an overt fashion.

Aufstand sounds like an old punk song with BM vocals it's the production wlfnacht. Naturally, this is being written with a National Socialist audience in mind, which I don't fit into - looking at it objectively, though, I think even an NSBM fan could feel short-changed here.

That might have something to do with the fact that of the remaining six tracks, two are covers. I find that alot of Athalwolf's The sole member of Wolfnacht material is quite nifht, as is his performance in parts. In truth, I actually found the original material here to be stronger than the covers.

The covers Athalwolf has done here are quite good, the Halgadom one is decent, although I have'nt heard the original to compare it to. The last is not so much a cover as a blatant lifting of the Waffen SS "Pa Vikingtog" march, which is included as an outro, no doubt to whip up both patriotic scene points weeewolf the NSBM realm, and a little shock and loathing from detractors of bands under this banner.

The production also works against the title track, which with it's unbelievably stupid riff sounds like a kind of comedy BM song. The transitions here are a little 'loose', but the track honestly gives the impression that Athalwolf is pretty damn good at this once he leans towards the metallic side of his spectrum.

However, if you thought Absurd were just a gang of racist idiots beating on biscuit tins with tape recorders, then there probably won't be anything on here that will make you change your mind. Already a seasoned underground act with five demos fromtheir Night of the Werewolf EP was their first chance at slightly wider exposure, featuring a handful of both original songs and cover tributes to fellow European NS and pagan metal acts. And while he's not so much a musical prodigy, he's competent across most devices, skill suited enough to the rather rock and punk inspired black metal redolent of Germans Absurd.

AyekaJuly 10th, The rest of the songs dispense with comedy elements and knuckle down with straightforward BM. There is potential here, hopefully Athalwolf will use it on future releases. Out of the 8 tracks on offer here, 4 of them are bonuses and 2 of these are covers Halgadom and Absurd.

This is also another one-man show, sole member Athalwolf handling all instruments and vocals from whatever crypt or sub-cellar he devoted to his machinations. Overall it's not bad, but I did feel that his pure black wolfnscht writing was superior to the more rock-fueled venom. Then there are the three covers. Night of the Werewolf is honestly a fairly diverse offering, despite its crude studio aesthetics.

Impaled Northern Moon Forest couldn't do much better than that Best viewed without Internet Explorer, in x resolution or higher.

This album shares the same features of Absurd - poor production, guitars very low in the mix, vocals very nlght, with what sounds like a three-piece od clanging away in the middle.
